Bereishith - In The Beginning

Genesis 1:1 to 6:8
Isaiah 42:5-21
John 1:1-18

Creation

Yahweh/Elohim spoke:

  • “Who has performed and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I, Yahweh, am the first; and with the last I am He.” (Isaiah 41:4)
  • “Thus says Yahweh, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, Yahweh of hosts [Yeshua]: 'I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God. (Isaiah 44:6)
  • “Listen to Me, O Jacob, and Israel, My called: I am He, I am the First, I am also the Last. Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth, and My right hand has stretched out the heavens; when I call to them, they stand up together.” (Isaiah 48:12-13)

Yeshua spoke:

  • “I am the Alpha/Aleph and the Omega/Tav, the First and the Last," (Revelation 1:11).
    • “I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death”. (Revelation 1:17-18).
    • "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. Blessed are those who do His commandments [Torah], that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city”. (Revelation 22:13-14, 16).

Isaiah 46:10 “Declaring the end [Revelation] from the beginning [Genesis], and from ancient times things that are not yet done” (Deuteronomy 6:4-6; Mark 12:29-31).

Yeshua – The Spoken Word of Yahweh

Proverbs 8:22-24 “Yahweh possessed [acquired/one who brings forth] me [Jesus/Yeshua] at the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I have been established from everlasting, from the beginning, before there was ever an earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there wereno fountains abounding with water.”
Genesis 1:1-2In the beginning God/Elohim [the intensification of all power] created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God/Elohim was hovering over the face of the waters. (Note: waters; a Hebrew idiom for people groups and groups of people).”
John 1:1-2; 14 Inthe beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God [the intensification of all power]. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. And the Word [Yeshua] became flesh [Yeshua] and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

Jesus the Christ/Yeshua ha Mashiach, is the personified manifestation of Yahweh’s words and attributes.

In creation God/Elohim carefully separates the darkness to reveal His light. This becomes the pattern throughout scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, for our life. It is the story of redemption as He brings His children from the realm of darkness to the realm of light and makes us a new creation in Yeshua the Light of the World. Before we knew Him, we were in spiritual darkness and in chaos. Yahweh revealed Himself to us in bodily form as Yeshua, and now we are His Kingdom Light on earth to the Nations.

Colossians 1:13-17 “He [Yeshua] has delivered us from the power of darkness [realm of death] and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love [realm of life], in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins [dishonor to Him our King]. He [Yeshua] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”

    Scripture reveals

    • That Yeshua “chose us in Him before the foundation of the world” (Ephesians 1:4)
    • That “The kingdom [of Yahweh has been] prepared for you [His Bride] from the foundation of the world” (Matthew 25:34)
    • That Yeshua was “slain from the foundation of the world” (Revelation 13:8)
    • For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He said: So I swore on my wrath, They shall not enter my rest, although “the works were finished from the foundation of the world” (Hebrews 4:3)
    • That the blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation (Luke 11:50)

As Yeshua’s victory was confirmed before the foundation of the world, so was satan/ha satan’s defeat established. The Scriptures affirm that we have been given victory over the enemy and that mankind’s redemption was sealed in this triumph before creation. But this is a conditional promise. Our personal victory over sin is contingent upon us choosing to live in obedience to Yahweh’s word (His Principles/Torah).

The wisdom of King Solomon says, “That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which it may be said, "See, this is new"? It has already been in ancient times before us.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9-10).

Since Creation, Yeshua has planted in mankind, the seeds of redemption and His Kingdom pattern. He wants us to be encouraged and to be free of fear, so that we can embrace what He has already accomplished on our behalf. Our choice is to believe in Him and choose to walk in His righteous ways. Many are called (born again) but few choose life in obedience to His Word/Torah and develop into His mirror image. (Matthew 20:16, 22: 14)

    The Overcomer

    • “To him [believer] who overcomes [their sinful/dishonoring ways against Yahweh] I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God." (Revelation 2:7).
    • “He [believer] who overcomes [their sinful/dishonoring ways against Yahweh] shall not be hurt by the second death." (Revelation 2:11).
    • “To him [believer] who overcomes [their sinful/dishonoring ways against Yahweh] I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it." (Revelation 2:17).
    • “And he [believer] who overcomes [their sinful/dishonoring ways against Yahweh], and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations - He shall rule them with a rod of iron; they shall be dashed to pieces like the potter's vessels - as I also have received from My Father; and I will give him the morning star.” (Revelation 2:26-28).
      • "He [believer] who overcomes [their sinful/dishonoring ways against Yahweh] shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.” (Revelation 3:5)
        • "He [believer] who overcomes [their sinful/dishonoring ways against Yahweh], I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. And I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.” (Revelation 3:12)
        • "To him [believer] who overcomes [their sinful/dishonoring ways against Yahweh] I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Revelation 3:21)
        • "He [believer] who overcomes [their sinful/dishonoring ways against Yahweh] shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.” (Revelation 21:7).

Matthew 25:34 "Then the King [Yeshua] will say to those on His right hand [those who have chosen life (obedience to Yeshua’s Kingdom principles), will be sitting at His right hand], 'Come, you [Bride] blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (John 17:24).
1 John 1:1 "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched-- this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.” (Jesus/Yeshua, the Living Torah).

        Heavenly Light

Genesis 1:3 “And God/Elohim said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light."

The Hebrew word “or” (Strongs #H216) means “light”. The word of God/Elohim is “a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). The revelation of God’s words sheds light (Psalm 119:130). We receive a blessing when we walk in the ordinances of His word; it is a Tree of Life for those who grab hold of it (Deuteronomy 28).

John 1:2-8 “He [Yeshua] was in the beginning with God/Elohim. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light that all through him might believe. He [John] was not that Light, but wassentto bear witness of that Light [Yeshua].”

        Yeshua spoke of Himself:

        • I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me [Yeshua] will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’"(John 8:12)

        Yeshua spoke of us:

        • "You are the light of the world. (Matthew 5:14)

How can Yeshua be ‘the light of the world’ and believers also be ‘the light of the world’? Yeshua said, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world," but when Yeshua went to be with the Father, He appointed those who follow after Him and had Yeshua in them, to be carriers of His light/truth. Thus, “You [Bride] are the light of the world.”

“He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." (John 9:5, 8:12)

Each day in Creation holds a key to Yahweh’s purpose and plan for our lives. This pattern flows throughout Scripture. The seven days of Creation relate to the seven thousand year Redemptive plan of Yahweh, as each day is as a thousand years with God (Genesis 1:1-2:3; Psalm 90:4; 2 Peter 3:8).

In Hebrew gamatria, the number seven means “to be full, or satisfied, to have enough of,” thus Yahweh rested on the seventh day, as what He had created was perfect, full, and complete and He was satisfied. The seventh day is only found in the Sabbath, a day of rest for all mankind. It is universal and ancient beyond memory or record in its observance by the nations. Those who observe the Sabbath (which includes Yahweh’s High Holy Sabbaths, His Feast Days) enter into the eternal timelessness and find the supernatural Sabbath rest established there. It is the place in which the seed of the Marriage Covenant between Yahweh and His Betrothed germinates and takes root. "There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God” (Hebrews 4:9).

        Water

Genesis 1:9 “Then God said, ‘Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear;’ and it was so.”

‘Water’ not only referred to a large body of water such as the sea, but is a reference to people, and groupings of people. “The voice of Yahweh is over the waters [peoples]; The God of glory thunders; Yahweh isover many waters [people groups].” (Psalm 29:3)

We read in the account of creation of the waters above heaven and below. We also read about a single river that watered the Garden and divided into four headwaters going to the four corners of the world. The single river is a reference to the twelve tribes of the whole House of Israel. When the river is divided into headwaters, it is a reference to those dispersed twelve tribes in the last days coming together as one, streaming back from the four corners of the world to Mount Zion, the Bridal Chamber in Jerusalem. The Hebrew word for river comes from the root word that means “to shine, beam, light” (Strong’s #5102). (Genesis 1:1, 6-8; Isaiah 2:2; Micah 4:1)

        • The name of the first headwater flowing from the river in the Garden is Pison, meaning increase.
        • The second headwater, Gihon, means bursting forth.
        • The third headwater is Hiddekel (Tigris), which means rapid,
        • and the last headwater from the Garden is called the Euphrates, meaning fruitfulness.

Isaiah puts the picture together for us.“Is it not to share your bread [word of Yahweh/Torah] with the hungry, and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out [outside the knowledge of Torah]; when you see the naked [those outside the blessing of Torah], that you cover him [teach him], and not hide yourself from your own flesh [believers in the body of Yeshua]? Then your light [Yahweh’s principles within you] shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of Yahweh shall be your rear guard. Then you shall call, and Yahweh will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, 'Here I am.’ If you take away the yoke [sinful inclinations] from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, if you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul [those outside Torah], then your light [Yahweh’s principles within you] shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday. Yahweh will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. Those from among you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In. If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy day of Yahweh honorable, and shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, then you shall delight yourself in Yahweh; and I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of Yahweh has spoken." (Isaiah 58:7-14).

John 7:38 “Whoever believes in me [Yeshua], as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him."
John 4:10 “Yeshua answered [the woman at the Samaritan well], ‘If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water.’"
Revelation 7:17 "For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their Shepherd; He will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
Zechariah 13:1 "On that day [the Day of the Lord/Yom Kippur] a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity."
Psalm 36:9 "For with You [Yeshua] is the fountain of life; in Your light we see Light (Jesus/Yeshua)."
Proverbs 14:27 "The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death."

        Light

Genesis 1:14 “And God /Elohim said, ‘Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons (Strongs # 4150 moadim/feast days) and days and years. And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth; and it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.”

In Hebrew understanding, stars can also refer to people: such as God blessing Abraham with descendants as numerous as the stars in the heavens; the dream given Joseph of his family depicted as stars bowing down to him and in the prophetic vision given Daniel of the wise ones who will shine like the brightness of the firmament and the righteous like the stars forever and ever. (Genesis 15:5, 22:17, 26:4, 37:9; Daniel 12:1-3).

These lights in the heavenly realm reflect Jesus/Yeshua’s glory for they declare His purpose from the beginning of time. Yahweh also gave man a way to read His calendar. By setting the lights in the sky He marked out His days and nights, months and years. Without the physical lights in the sky, we would have no ability to understand and follow His calendar and would miss His important appointed times/moedim/ (feasts/dates) and the calling upon our lives.

The Holy Spirit/Ruach Ha Kodesh is waking the Bride up and calling her back to Yahweh’s Principles found in Torah. Today many congregations are gathering on the New Moon/Rosh Chodesh festival at the beginning of each biblical month and are learning to celebrate the Sabbath on the seventh day of the week. His people are beginning to see Yahweh’s seven thousand year redemptive plan as it unfolds in the seven Feasts of the Yahweh. (Leviticus 23; Zechariah 14)

Yahweh Makes Man in His Image

Ephesians 1:3-10 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ/Yeshua Ha Mashiach, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ/Messiah. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ/Yeshua Ha Mashiach, in accordance with his pleasure and will-- to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ/Messiah, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment-- to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even [in] Christ/Messiah.”

        Plurality of God

Genesis 1:26 “Then God/Elohim said, ‘Let us make man in our image, in our likeness.’ ”

Note: Elohim (Strong’s #430) is thought to be plural and is said to support the next part of the sentence “let us make man in our image” as being plural, but the Hebrew word Elohim is followed by a singular Hebrew verb ‘said’/amer (Strong’s #559). Hebrew grammar specifies that a singular verb must always be preceded by a singular noun; consequently the nature of the name of God/Elohim is singular or echad meaning one in Hebrew. Elohim has multiple meanings but is not multiple ‘persons’ in the god head.

        Monotheism – One God

        • God is Lord/Yahweh (Strong’s #3068) meaning He exists andHe is God/Elohim (Strong’s #430) He is God and not just any god; He is the all powerful One - He is One/echad (Strong’s #259) meaning only One. Monotheism focuses on Yahweh Who is:
        • Omnipresent, exists everywhere at all times, fills the universe and beyond but is always near.
        • He is Omniscient, knowing all things, all our thoughts and deeds in the past present and future.
        • He is Omnipotent, all-powerful eternal without beginning and without end. He transcends time and exists everywhere at all times with no special boundaries or limitation. God manifests through scripture by progressive revelation -the One same God. He is One and is not separated into distinct persons, modes or manifestations, as in the doctrine of the Trinity where He is known as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is One/Echad - There is no beginning and no ending:
          • Omnipresent: Father, Creator, Shepherd, First.
          • Omniscient: Son (Jesus) redeemer, King, Last.
          • Omnipotent: Holy Spirit, Savior “I AM” Rock - One Eternal God

“The LORD/Yahweh is the great I AM, the Righteous King, our Provider, Our Peace, Covenant, Father Healer, Shepherd, Savior, The Rock, the First and the Last, the Door, the Way, the Truth, Life, the Light, Living Water, Redeemer, the Root of David, the Branch, the Word, the Vine, the Tabernacle in the Wilderness. He is the Sacrifice and the Deliverer, the Lord of the Sabbath and the fullness of the appointed Feast days/moedim. He is the author of the Commandments and Guarantor of the Covenant. He is the manna from heaven, the anointing oil, the shofar blast, the Ark of the Covenant, the Prince of Peace, the Yom Kippur offering, the wine and the bread, our sanctification. His is the King of Kings. He is compassion, kindness, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and much more… He is our Life - Yahweh the Word, Torah, Yeshua and the Light - the author of all Creation.” (http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Names_of_G-d/Yeshua/yeshua.html)

The names and images of Yahweh are His characteristic and attributes; they illustrate what our image is to be. Man is made in the image of Yahweh’s characteristics. As we come into the fullness of our identity through the walk of redemption we transform into His likeness/image.

These symbols and attributes are in us and are part of us when we are in Him and part of Him. Only mankind bears the image/likeness of God. He has gifted us with the same wonderful range of capabilities as Himself.

Genesis 2:7 "Yahweh Elohim formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."

The evolution of man from another species is a lie. Man was formed out of the dust of the earth not from a monkey. The design and pattern is by Yahweh the Creator of the Universe. Yahweh breathed HIS own breath, THE breath (naphech - Strong’s #5301) of Life (chai) into Adam’s nostrils and man became a living soul (chai nephesh - Strong’s #5315).

The First Covenant: The Covenant of Eden

Yahweh made a Covenant with mankind in Genesis 1:26-28 and in Genesis 2:15-17. It is called the Covenant of Eden and is universal to all mankind. In this Covenant, man was to multiply and fill the earth with descendants. He was to have dominion over the animals and manage the Garden.

Man was told not to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of good and evil (as its fruit is death / the sinful nature) but was allowed to eat from the Tree of Life (as it produces life / fruit of the spirit/heavenly nature). The penalty Adam and Eve suffered for their disobedience to Yahweh’s instructions was their status changed from walking in the realm of life with Yeshua in His Garden, to walking in the realm of separation/spiritual death. (Deuteronomy 28).

        Adam and Eve

In Genesis chapter two we have the account of a bride for Adam. Adam was created by Yahweh/ Elohim from the dust of the earth and was made both male and female (Genesis 1:27). Female is neqebah (Strong’s # 5347) from the root word naqab (Strong’s #5344), meaning: to pierce, perforate, and set firmly. When Yahweh saw that Adam was lonely, He brought him all the animals that He had created so that Adam could name them. No suitable helper was found among them for Adam, for he could not find another like himself without the animalistic nature. The Hebrew phrase for Eve is ezer lenegedu, best understood as a "helper corresponding to him." Adam had not seen his nature in the animals Yahweh brought him. He did see his nature in the woman, however, when Yahweh brought her forth from his side.

The woman was suitable because she shared with Adam the image and attributes of Yahweh/ Elohim. It is only the image of Yahweh in mankind that permits us to relate to every dimension / personality of chai nephesh. He has given us emotions, intellect, spirit, our physical appearance, etc. Only another being like Adam, who was shaped in the image of Yahweh, would be suitable.

Genesis 2:21 "So Yahweh Elohim caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, He took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh."

        Flesh of My Flesh

Genesis 2:23 “The man said, ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called “woman,” for she was taken out of man.’ ” These were Adam’s words when Yahweh brought the woman to him. In essence he was saying, "Now, at last, here is one who shares my identity – one to whom I can relate because she is everything I am, and I am everything she is."

When Yeshua returns for His Bride, he will be looking for the one who walks as His mirror image; one who desires to keep His principles; has a sanctified heart and one who has separated light (the Tree of Life) from darkness (the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil).

Daniel 12:1-3 “And at that time [reference to the Feast of Yom Kippur/ the Wedding Day in the 7000 year] your people shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book [of Life]. And many of those [believers] who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise [Brides who walk in the principles/commands of Yahweh] shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness [Torah/Yeshua’s right ways] like the stars forever and ever.” (Matthew 25:1-13)

Adam is a prophetic picture of Yeshua. The Bride of Yeshua is birthed from Yeshua’s pierced side. The Greek word egkentrizo Strong’s #G1461 means grafted: to cut into for the sake of inserting or grafting in a scion (pronounced similar to the Hebrew word zion). Etymology for scion is: sprout, shoot. 1. A detached living portion of a plant (as a bud or shoot) joined to a stock in grafting and usually supplying solely aerial parts to a graft. 2. A descendant, child especially a descendant of a wealthy, aristocratic, or influential family; 3. Heir.

Romans 11: 24-27 says, “For if you [Ephraim] were cut out of the olive tree [due to worldliness/being outside Yahweh’s Kingdom] which is wild by nature and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree [Israel], how much more will these, who are natural branches [House of Judah], be grafted into their own olive tree? For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel [House of Judah] until the fullness of the Gentiles [House of Israel/Ephraim] has come in. And so all Israel [Descendents of the twelve tribes] will be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob [the whole house of Israel]; For this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins." (Jeremiah 31:33-34; Hebrews 8:8-10).

Yeshua’s betrothed, will come from His pierced (scion) side. The righteous, men and women alike, bear the image and likeness of Yahweh/Elohim. (Genesis 2:23)

Genesis 1:27-28 speaks of both male and female being created in Yahweh’s image. This teaches us that all mankind, share in His gifting and abilities equally. Some will be more intelligent than others, some more sensitive to beauty. It is not the amount of any one capability a person possesses but the fact that we all reflect some aspect of the glory of Yahweh. We must always remember that God gifted women with His own image and likeness to the same degree as He did with men. In "spiritual" essence, Adam and Eve were created equal. But in all creation, the woman alone was created from what He had already perfectly formed. While both man and the rest of creation that had breath were all made from the earth, the woman alone was fashioned by the hand of God from the living tissue of Adam. God created the woman in His image; He loved her and gave her the capacity to love and share in return.

This is a prophetic picture of the Bride being formed from Yeshua alone and not from the earth, which refers to that which is carnal/sinful earthly desires. The Bride of Yeshua will be holy.

1 Corinthians 15:53-54 “For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."

        Two Trees

Genesis 1:28-29 "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food."

In the middle of the Garden were two trees: the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God told Adam and Eve, "You are free to eat from any tree in the Garden, but you must not eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die" (Genesis 2:16-17).

Only the Tree of Life had fruit with life reproducing seed/life in it. The commandment is to "be fruitful and increase"; only the Tree of Life produced fruit containing seed/life that could reproduce after its kind and multiply life - His life not our own life.

The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil had fruit, but it contained seed that could not produce life. In essence it was as lifeless as the GMO products in the world today. There was nothing “good” or “life” giving in the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Eating this fruit would only produce death.

The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil could not increase itself; it needed an earthly nature and an avenue called "man" in order to perpetuate. When man ate of this tree it produced the sinful nature, as self perpetuates self. When man eats this fruit his focus is on himself not Yahweh, as one of the main “fruits” from this tree is “pride”. Furthermore, he search out others also eating from this tree (walking in the earthly/sinful nature) to continue to perpetuate himself. If we eat this fruit, we will bring about our own destruction (2 Peter 3:1-18).

Mankind is commanded to eat from the Tree of Life as it holds Yahweh’s likeness, life and nature, called the Fruit of the Spirit. Yeshua gave Himself for us. Only a life lived within Yahweh’s Life giving Spirit, is in the Tree of Life.

John 6:51-58 "I [Yeshua] am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever; and the bread also which I shall give for the life of the world is My flesh." The Jews therefore began to argue with one another, saying, "How can this man give us His flesh to eat?" Jesus/Yeshua therefore said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also shall live because of Me. This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate, and died, he who eats this bread shall live forever." (Romans 11:18; Revelation 22:16).
2 Corinthians 6:17 - 7:1 “Therefore, ‘Come out from among them and be separate”, says the Lord. ‘Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says Lord Almighty/Adonai Tzva’ot.’ Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

The Fruit of Choosing Life or Death

Genesis 3:14-15 “So the Yahweh Elohim said to the serpent: "Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel."

Once Eve reasoned with the serpent by giving her own opinion rather than quoting Yahweh’s word, she lost all authority she held as ambassador in Yahweh’s Kingdom. A serpent hosted the enemy and deceived the woman by speaking to the uncircumcised, evil inclination in her (her personal preference over Yahweh’s principles). By her own free will, Eve chose death over life and she fell into temptation and ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of God and Evil. For this, Yahweh/Elohim pronounced both the serpent and the enemy, satan/ha satan, cursed. The consequences of the curse on the serpent meant that it would forever crawl on the earth’s surface on its belly. The consequence to satan/ha satan was there would be enmity between “[it] and the woman, and between [its] offspring and hers”. And that the woman’s offspring would crush the serpent’s head, and the serpent would strike his heel. The scripture clearly refers to a specific individual, in that the enemy would be defeated by Eve’s promised offspring.

In Genesis 3:16 we find Yahweh’s description of the consequences that came as a result of the woman’s disobedience. Today we find the consequences still operating in the generations of women after her. Yahweh’s pronouncements of pain in childbirth and the desire for her husband’s covering are still in effect. The Hebrew word for “desire” is tshuga, which means: cravings, hungers, focused, and intentional, having intimacy. However, the closest meaning to the text is that the woman always strives to find favor in her husband’s eyes. Women, in shifting their desire to please their husbands from pleasing Yahweh, lose sight of whom they were created to worship.

Similarly in exercising a distorted idea of domination over women, men and societies with an unbiblical perspective, have not only usurped the role of Yahweh, but oppressed women. The Christian organization Focus on the Family, informs us that 50% of church going men are either abusing their wives physically or verbally on a regular basis.

In Genesis 3:17-19 we find that the outcome of Adam’s choice to not cover his wife or be responsible for leading his family, was pain, struggle, and separation from intimacy with Yahweh. These consequences were the result of Adam’s choice. Just as disobedience stripped the woman of her primary longing for Yahweh and replaced it with an urge to please man, so too Adam was stripped of his longing for Yahweh and was replaced by a desire to achieve by his own efforts.

Yeshua has made a way for us to return to Yahweh’s original redemptive plan for our lives. In Yeshua we are to recover the equality and partnership that Adam and Eve had in the Garden. This is Yahweh’s desire for us. He longs to bring us into order; back into alignment with the proper arrangement of His Kingdom, the way He originally intended it to be according to His Word (3 John 1:2).

Galatians 3:28 “There is neither [no favoritism between] Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus/Yeshua Ha Mashiach (Jesus the Messiah).”

        Garments for Adam and Eve

When Adam and Eve transgressed against Yahweh’s eternal pattern called Torah, they fell into the sin of dishonor and suddenly saw they were naked. Adam and Eve tried to cover their guilt by secretly clothing their nakedness with leaves from a tree; however man’s efforts were not suitable to atone for their sin. Yahweh saw their helplessness, as only the leaves containing His word from the Tree of Life/Torah/Yeshua, the living word, written on skins from a blood sacrifice would bring atonement and healing (Revelation 22:2).

While Adam and Eve were making manmade coverings for themselves they heard Yahweh/Elohim walking in the garden. He said, “Who told you that you were naked?”

Adam and Eve had been clothed with His righteousness; they walked in a heavenly, supernatural realm and were not naked before they disobeyed. But Yahweh is Spirit (1John 1:14), so when Adam and Eve ate of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil their status changed from walking in the spirit of the heavenly realm in God’s Kingdom, to allowing the sinful fallen nature of the earthly realm to rule over them. Adam and Eve did not lose their salvation as they still knew Yeshua, but they were in an unclean state.

Sin separates us from the heavenly realm. Not only did Adam and Eve become naked but they could no longer see on a heavenly, divine order; they only heard Yahweh walking in the Garden. Believers who lose their heavenly nature (His righteousness) when they sin, distance themselves from the priesthood of Yeshua. Their wedding garments (righteous acts of the saints) become soiled and can even be lost or discarded. This is called being naked in scripture.

Revelation 16:15 "Behold, I am [Yeshua] coming as a thief [unexpectedly for those who walk outside Torah]. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his [wedding/priestly] garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame."

Adam originally had dominion over the earth; he was made in the image of God and walked in a priestly role in His Kingdom. With this status change Adam’s vision became that of an earthly nature, a narrow distorted view of Yahweh’s Kingdom. He no longer could see as Yahweh saw, nor act in the role as King and Priest in His Kingdom. Thus starts the story of redemption.

2 Kings 6:15-17 “And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, ‘Alas, my master! What shall we do?’ So he answered, ‘Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ And Elisha prayed, and said, ‘Yahweh, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.’ Then Yahweh opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

This scripture gives us a good example of the two realms and what can happen when we choose a change of status from a sinful nature (in this case fear) to a heavenly nature/realm and one of life and truth. It all depends on which Tree from the Garden we are consuming as we are a reflection of our thoughts, beliefs and actions.

The scriptures refer to those believers who are outside the realm of life in Torah as ones who have sinned/missed the mark, are considered naked, as they had come out from under the covering, protection and blessing Yahweh spoke of in His Word. This is how Adam and Eve came to see their nakedness. They realized that in stepping outside the boundaries of Yahweh’s principles that govern the universe, they had left themselves uncovered. The earthly sinful nature has no attributes of life within it to sustain life. When we eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, we are perpetuating the sinful/earthly nature which separates us from Yahweh and we leave ourselves exposed to sin. Yahweh sees us as ‘naked’ when we turn from Him.

Revelation 3:17-22 "Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing' -- and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked -- "I counsel you to buy from Me gold [Torah] refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments [Bridal, priestly wedding garments], that you may be clothed [covered in Torah], that the shame of your nakedness [sinful nature] may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes [the sinful nature] I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches/ekklesia."

Today, this word still stands. We are counseled to buy gold refined in the fire from Yeshua, to circumcise our hearts, that we may change our status and be rich in Him. He has sewn us garments of righteousness to cover our nakedness but we believers must choose to be finished with our sinful earthly nature.

Yeshua was in the beginning; He walked in the garden with Adam. The voice they heard was that of Yeshua. He is the physical presence of Yahweh. He is the sacrifice that provided atonement for our sin.

Revelation 13:8 “The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

Leviticus 5:13 made a provision for those who sinned innocently. They were required to bring an elevation/burnt offering (Leviticus 4-5). Yeshua, as High Priest, offered the animal sacrifice on Adam and Eve’s behalf, a foreshadowing of Himself being our sacrifice and dying our death.

In Leviticus 7:7-8, the scripture states the priests were allowed to keep the skins of the animals that were sacrificed as sin and guilt offerings. This is a shadow of the fulfillment found in Yeshua as He substituted himself for the sin and guilt offerings, both which provided garments to cover Adam and Eve and provided all mankind with the ultimate sacrifice that covers and atones for all past, present and future sins.

Torah states the High Priest is to sacrifice two goats for sin and guilt offerings that would provide temporary covering for people’s sin, once a year on Day of Atonement/Yom Kippur. Yahweh created a pattern that would cause us to recognize our need for a Messiah/Savior. Today we no longer need an earthly High Priest in an earthly Temple to yearly offer animals as sacrifices on our behalf. Rather, we celebrate Yeshua on the Feast Days of Yahweh that are eternal, for He is the eternal ultimate sacrifice, the Lamb slain from the creation of the world. Through Him we, as priests, now circumcise our own hearts and offer up our sinful nature as living sacrifices to Yahweh, a pleasing aroma.

Genesis 3:21 "Yahweh made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them."

Skin in Hebrew is Strong’s #5785 - TWOT #1589a or and Light Strong’s #216- TWOT #52a in Hebrew is also or

In biblical times, lamb skins were used to record Torah, the Word of Yahweh. Once stretched and dried, they were called leaves. When sewn together they were called garments of salvation/righteousness. Rolled onto two sticks (representing the two Houses of Israel: the House of Israel and the House of Judah) the scroll then became the Tree of Life. When believers walk in His Righteousness, we walk wrapped (or swaddled) in garments of righteousness; from where we get the term, “the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” (John 1:14; 8:12; 9:5; Psalm 119:105).

Revelation 22:1-2 “Then the angel showed me the river of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”

The leaves of the Tree of Life were for the healing of the nations. From Adam and Eve would come the nations of the world and Yahweh’s chosen people, the twelve tribes of the nation of Israel. The leaves that covered Adam and Eve were the Torah, God’s teaching and instruction, His principles that govern the universe. The twelve crops also represented the twelve tribes of Israel who walk in Yahweh’s Word, bearing fruit every month likened to the fruits of the Spirit.

As believers following Torah we are no longer considered exposed or naked, but dressed in white, priestly linen garments. We are redeemed, because Yeshua our Salvation is the Living Torah who became flesh and dwelt among us. (Zechariah 4; John 1:1; 14).

The garment Adam and Eve wore was called a k’thoneth or katan for short, which translated means: a hairy garment. Likewise John the Baptist, who came in the Spirit of Elijah, wore a hairy garment as he baptized/mikvah believers who had been separated from the blessings of Yahweh and were now rejecting the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil/the sinful nature and returning to the Tree of Life and the Fruit of the Spirit. This prepared the way for the Messiah.

The Bride of Yeshua is led into His Presence by way of the Spirit of Elijah. She does this by repenting, leaving her earthly sinful nature behind to walk in obedience with her Messiah in His Torah. This heart attitude pierces the veil into the heavenly kingdom through the Spirit of Elijah (walking in Torah in the intimacy of the Messiah) and ushers in the King.

Yeshua is the Word made flesh, a living Torah scroll, "the Lamb of Yahweh who takes away the sins of the world" (John 1:14; 29).

Genesis 3:24 "After Yahweh drove the man out [of the Garden], He placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

Here is His divine protection and a way back to the Tree of Life when mankind returns through sanctification.

2 Thessalonians 2:13-17 “But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ /Yeshua Ha Mashiach. Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ/Yeshua Ha Mashiach Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.”

The First Echoes of the Promise

The Second Covenant: The Covenant of Adam

In Genesis 3:14-19 a Covenant is given to Adam that is universal to all mankind. In this Covenant there was a curse on satan/ha satan, and consequences for sin applied to the man and woman. But Yahweh did not leave Adam and Eve without hope. The promise of a redeemer, who would be the seed of a woman that would defeat the enemy, was introduced to them.

        Adam Names His Wife

Yahweh warned man that on the day he partook of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil he would surely die (Genesis 2:17).

Adam thoroughly understood the laws of the universe and the significant implications of sinning, having been warned by Yahweh about disobedience against Him. Yahweh always makes Himself easily understood in all matters that refer to conduct for life and the consequences of disobedience. Adam had not kept watch (cover) over his wife. How do we know this? We see in scripture that sin was in the garden with Adam and Eve but did not activate in Adam until his disobedience, not Eve’s. So it was through Adam that sin entered into His generations – as sin of dishonor travel to the third and fourth generation.

        Note on Original Sin

The early church father St. Augustine, introduced a theory which is still being taught today in Christian seminaries, that Adam’s sin fell onto all mankind and that we are all born under Adam’s curse. This “theory” of original sin is not Biblical. Adam had two choices when faced with temptation: was he going to choose life (obedience) or choose death (disobedience)? Adam chose death, thus sin entered him. In scripture we are told that if we sin we can repent and be made right with Yahweh. If we do not repent, sin perpetuates itself to the third and fourth generations. Sin can be inherited but there is a stopping point through repentance at any time. As Adam had a choice, we also have the same two choices before us every day: will we choose life or will we choose death? (Deuteronomy chapters 28-30).

When Adam ate what was forbidden a new revelation was given him. This did not make void the sentence of death but opened before him the final and complete deliverance through the seed of the woman.

His faith in the promise of a future salvation took on its first recorded form by his selection of a name for his wife. Adam chose the Hebrew name Eve/Chavah, which means life or living, "Because she was the mother of all living." Earlier Adam was given the responsibility of naming all the animals on the earth, so when it came to naming Chavah, Adam would have known her characteristics and the behavior in order to name her. Adam knew the Hebrew letters intimately and selected the letters that would best describe his wife. (Genesis 3:20).

The first letter was chet, which means: a fence or an inner room in ancient Hebrew, coming from the root word for: to surround or to gird. Fence symbolizes the acts of separating, cutting off from and protecting. The letter chet corresponds with the number eight, which represents life beyond. Chet is also used for the words brother, grace and favor, refuge, to keep silent and companion. Yahweh’s favor, grace and Word are a fence that keeps us safe within and keeps our enemies out.

The next letter Adam chose for Chavah is vav. In ancient Hebrew the letter vav looks like and represents a nail or a wooden peg, like the hooks that were used to hold together the curtains of the Tabernacle. The pictograph of a hook or nail symbolized a joining together, making secure or becoming bound (nailed to). It is the sixth letter in the Hebrew alphabet and denotes physical completion. The letter also means acceptance of Torah and the guarantor of Redemption.

Adam’s choice for naming his bride was evidenced of his certainty in the prophesy given earlier that Eve/Chavah was to become the mother of the human race to which ultimate victory would be given. This victory was foretold to come by "the seed of the woman" when He, the Messiah, will crush the head of the serpent i.e. the adversary.

Thus “faith and hope” were sealed forever in the meaning of this name. Chavah was privileged, and she knew she was chosen. Even though they were now outside the Garden, Eve knew she was still made in the image and likeness of her Creator, and the promise of a Redeemer was kept deep in her heart forever. She knew the way back to the Garden for all mankind was given them through the gift of the Promise.

"Adam knew his wife Eve and she conceived and bare Cain." They did so in accordance with the original commandment to them from Yahweh in the Garden "to be fruitful and multiply" (Genesis 4:1).

In Eve’s elation she exclaimed, "I have gotten a man with the help of Yahweh." "With the help of" is not in the original text. The sentence in Hebrew is: "Qaniti ish et YHVH." Eve is exclaiming, "I have gotten a man, Yahweh!" This shows clearly her interpretation of the original promise of Yahweh coming in physical form, which means she was expecting the Messiah. (Genesis 4:1)

Eve understood the promise made to her as including the supernatural entrance of Yahweh into the human sphere (or back to the uniqueness of the Garden). This prophetic utterance begins to unfold and as we see that in the days of Seth man began to gather around the promise of the coming Redeemer and call upon the name of Yahweh. By Yahweh’s promise regarding the seed of the woman He had inspired faith in the hearts of mankind (Genesis 4:26). Eve/Chavah was a woman full of faith and hope.

Cain and Abel – Anger Management

We see in the account of Cain and Abel the first case of sibling rivalry. Looking at this story closely reveals something fundamental in little family quarrels that some may think are normal but that can actually lead to death. (Genesis 4:1-8)

In Hebrew thought, it is believed that Eve gave birth to twins. Abel was a keeper of flocks and Cain worked the soil. In the course of time (a Hebrew idiom meaning: a moed/an appointed Feast of Yahweh), Abel brought Yahweh’s required sacrifice but Cain brought what he chose was acceptable in his own eyes and by his own efforts - personal preference over Yahweh’s principle.

"Yahweh looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. Then Yahweh said to Cain, ‘Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it’” (Genesis 4:4-7).

Here we have the first anger management course in history. Yahweh’s teaching on anger is complete and one which needs to be learned and applied when situations arise. We don’t need a counselor, a therapist or a doctor for anger management. Rather, we need to heed the Words of Yahweh in order to overcome the attitudes of the heart. We need to deal with our own earthly sinful nature and choose to walk after our heavenly nature; in the fruit of the Spirit given us through repentance.

Cain was not angry with Abel but with Yahweh. His whole attitude, character and face reflected his anger. Anger outwardly or inwardly is rebellion. It is a level of manipulation and control akin to witchcraft (1 Samuel 15:23). This is why Yahweh is addressing anger management in the beginning to learn this lesson early. As we studied previously, anger (the earthly/sinful nature) will not only separate us from Yahweh but also hinder our ability to hear and walk in His ways resulting in us being naked, blind and have a distortion of the truth. We are told if we eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil those elements and our guilt will be laid bare, especially before the King of kings and the Lord of lords – Yeshua Ha Mashiach, our bridegroom!

1 Corinthians 3:8-17 “Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, you are God's building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ/Yeshua Ha Mashiach. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, ….wood, hay, straw, each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.”

As Yahweh points out Cain’s anger to him, He asks him why he is angry and why his face is downcast. We are not shown Cain’s answer. It appears he did not answer Yahweh but continued in his anger, as Yahweh reasons with him saying, "If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?" Cain had ignored Yahweh’s gift of atonement and tried to gain it by his own work and efforts through his offering.

Yahweh says, "But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it" (Genesis 4:7).

This is the key to the whole "redemption of the soul" message (1 Peter 1:9-13). It is our job to deal with our sin! Scripture says, we are not to eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil or we will die. “If we do not do what is right sin crouches at our door. It desires to have us.” Another person or situation outside of ourselves does not cause us to sin. We open the door to sin and cause our own destruction.

Proverbs 18:6-8 “A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for blows. A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul. The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles, and they go down into the inmost body.”
James 4:1 “Where do wars and fights comefrom among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?”
Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart isdeceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?”
Mark 7:21 "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man."
Romans 8:7 “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.”
2 Peter 3:16 “He (Paul) writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.”

We do not realize that harboring hard hearts produce actions and attitudes that bring in a rush of sin. Anger and wrong heart attitudes are open doors that host a flow of sin like a river right into our heart! We need to realize it is our attitudes that are major causes to our struggles. Retaining a bad attitude is sin! Yahweh tells us to master our attitude, take off our old sinful earthly nature and learn to be obedient to Yahweh, forgiving our neighbor and praising Yahweh more with a thankful heart!

James 1:14, 19-22 “…each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. …My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

Paul is talking to believers in Ephesus when he says, in Ephesians 4:20-32,But you have not so learned Messiah, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Yeshua: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man [the evil inclinations of the sinful nature] which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man [heavenly nature/kingdom Fruit of the Spirit] which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore, putting away lying, let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Messiah forgave you.”

The outcome of Cain’s anger was murder. The lesson of obedience is the message that Yahweh wants us to remember.

"By faith [obedience] Abel offered Yahweh a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith [obedience] he was commended as a righteous man, when Yahweh spoke well of his offerings. And by faith [obedience] he [Abel] still speaks, even though he is dead" (Hebrews 11:4).
Genesis 4:25 "Adam lay with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, saying, ‘Yahweh has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him.’"

There are ten generations from Adam to Noah. We understand all these generations remembered Yahweh’s promise to Eve/Chavah of a Redeemer, because it is evident in the names and respective meanings each man chose for their sons.

        Adam: man
        Seth: appointed
        Enosh: mortal
        Kenan: sorrow
        Mahalalel: blessed one
        Jared: will come down
        Enoch: teaching
Methuselah: (that) his death will send
        Lamech: the hidden King (despairing)
        Noah: Rest (comfort)

If we put all the names together it becomes a prophetic message saying, “Man is appointed mortal in sorrow, but our blessed One will come down teaching that His death will send the hidden King rest (or despairing comfort)." The whole redemption message is revealed in the naming of their generations – The power of the spoken word!

Yahweh was faithful to his Word when Adam ate from the forbidden tree. Yahweh said that he would surely die in that day. Adam died before his time at the age of 930 before “the day” was over, as a day is as a thousand years to Yahweh (Psalm 90:4; 2 Peter 3:8).

Note: When Lamech, the father of Noah, was alive, so were all the generations before him back to Adam. Lamech would have walked with Adam and learned about the Garden, this he share with his son Noah. Thus was Noah’s heritage. It would not be for another ten generations after Noah that we see a people being drawn out and set apart from the nations.
